Cumulative Update 2 for SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3

Microsoft has recently released SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 Cumulative Update 2 on November 22, 2011.

This update has fixed the issues, which has been reported after SQL Server 2008 SP 3. Once you install this cumulative update this will update your SQL Server Version to 10.00.5768.00

Below are the major bugs that have been fixed in this CU: complete details can be seen here

  1. FIX: A backup operation on a SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 database fails if you enable change tracking on this database
  2. FIX: CLR stored procedure returns NULL after it is recompiled in SQL Server 2008 R2
  3. FIX: Access violation when you insert a record into a new empty partition in SQL Server 2008

This hotfix will only work if you already running on SQL Server 2008 SP3 and above version. This build version is  10.00.5768.00.
