Does Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Supports clustering ?

YES, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) supports windows clustering.

SQL Server Analysis Services is independent service and SSAS resource is not dependent on the SQL Server Database Engine resource.

Analysis Services on clustered environments listens on the default port – TCP 2383. Even if it is installed as a named instance.

Analysis Services will automatically detect that it is running on a cluster, and so it ignores the port server configuration property and listens on the default port.

  1. Rename of Analysis Services Instance name of clustered environment is not supported.
  2. SQL Server Analysis services shares SQL Server Installation Center and all those restrictions are applicable to SSAS also, which we has in SQL Server Database Services.
