Step 2 - Verify SQL Server Analysis Services Installation Logs

Each execution of SQL Server Setup creates log files. These Log files are created at %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\ timestamped. This time-stamped log folder name format is YYYYMMDD_hhmmss.

Step 4 - Verify SQL Server Analysis Services is open for Users.

In case you have firewall between SQL Server Analysis Services and Analysis Services Users (Developers), please ensure that SQL Server Analysis Services port is opened in firewall.

By Default SQL Server Analysis Services runs of dynamic port.

You can check the Port setting in SQL Server Analysis Services Configuration file named "msmdsrv.ini", this file is located in directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server \MSQL\OLAP\Config\

Inside msmdsrv.ini file, you can find an entry like, <Port>0</Port>, which means, Analysis Services us running on dynamic port, which means every time your restart the Analysis Services, a new port will be associated to Analysis Services.

It’s recommended to use a dedicated port for Analysis Services, in case Firewall is coming between server and client. As a industry practice, most of analysis services environments are running on port 2383.

These Steps Confirms that you have successfully installed Analysis Services and Analysis Services is currently running and developers can connect to Analysis Services.
